Giving Birth in America

I attended a fascinating panel on “Giving Birth in America” at the 5th annual WELL Summit in early October. Former model & Every Mother Counts founder Christy Turlington discussed the US’ consistently rising maternal mortality rate…despite spending more than any other country per capita on healthcare. Panelists also discussed the role that discrimination plays in maternal mortality and the need for better postpartum care for women. 1 in 7 women experience postpartum depression and only about 15% are treated.
